Features

FAQ

Does the timer stay on top of full-screen apps?
Yes. Buoyant Timer is designed to stay on top, including when other apps are in full-screen.

What is click-through and when should I use it?
Click-through lets mouse clicks pass through the timer to the app beneath it.
Use it to keep the timer visible without intercepting clicks during focused work.

How do I interact with the timer if click-through is on?
There are two options - either with global hotkeys, or by disabling click-through
You can use global hotkeys to start/stop, pause, reset and start the countdowns.
Then re-enable click-through to return to undistracting mode.

What are the global hotkeys?
Global hotkeys are keyboard shortcuts that allow you to control the timer with just the keyboard.

Action Combination
Start/Stop ⌘⌥⌃ S
Reset ⌘⌥⌃ R
Start countdown J ⌘⌥⌃ J
Start countdown K ⌘⌥⌃ K

What exactly is the Auto-start stopwatch option?
Enabling this option will automatically start the stopwatch when the countdown lapses.
This helps when you don't want to lose track of the time that may have passed since the countdown ended.

How long can a countdown be?
Countdowns support durations up to 60 minutes.

Why does the stopwatch stop at 59:59?
This is an intentional design choice to keep the component compact and legible.
For longer tracking, consider using a full 1-hour countdown with the auto-start stopwatch option enabled.
This will then automatically start a stopwatch when the countdown lapses - giving you a total of 2 hours of tracking.

Can I change colors or opacity?
Yes. You can choose from different color options and adjust opacity.
There's also a higher-contrast color mode for improved readability.

Will it disrupt my workflow?
No. With click-through enabled, Buoyant Timer stays visible and unobtrusive, allowing you to interact with the apps beneath it.
With adjustable opacity, you can make it less distracting while still keeping it visible.
